How Alligator Coffee Happened……

It all started a few years ago through my first coffee house, Rick’s Coffee House (RCH), which became a ministry to share the love of Jesus through a free cup of C.O.F.F.E.E (Christ Offers Forgiveness For Everyone Everywhere).

Through Rick’s Coffee House, we always tried to provide the absolute freshest coffee available to our patrons, friends, and family. Over time, we’ve slowly progressed from buying in wholefood markets to local roasters, which was life-changing. (Of course not life-changing, like trusting Jesus as your savior (John 3:16).) However, it was a game changer in the coffee house world. Despite buying from local roasters, there was still a void because local roasters couldn’t always provide the coffee RCH was looking for.

RCH specializes in espresso drinks along with all other coffee drinks. So finding a roaster that would sustain the creations of an espresso blend that would be bold, not bitter, that’s filled with lots of crema and could hold up to large portions of milk became a challenge.

As a result, RCH purchased a small commercial roaster to provide exceptional coffee. What became immediately apparent was that the roasting would go beyond just RCH. So the domain Alligatorcoffee.com was purchased and a website
created to sell coffee. RCH has never charged for coffee and never will. Alligator Coffee is a separate business that provides coffee to RCH but does sell in limited quantities to customers, family, and friends. It was important to distinguish between the two businesses because RCH is more of a ministry, certainly not a profit center. Although Alligator Coffee provides coffee to RCH, it also has a commercial presence.

Alligator Coffee does not try to provide dozens of coffees. We roast to order generally every two weeks. We specialize in a proprietary (not to us ) espresso blend called Malabar Gold, which comes from India. We also typically have Colombian and Brazilian coffee as well. Sometimes other coffees, depending on requests.

The name Alligator Coffee came from the fact that we roast locally in Florida. Alligators are about the most local Florida thing you will find. It’s indigenous to Florida, just like our coffee. We have found our Alligators eating donuts with a stary aroma. Hmmmmmm (think deeply). Well, please give us a try; our coffee is amazing and freshly roasted. We ship it to your door if you like.

Respectfully,
Rick Smith, Roaster.
